چکیده

Coagulase-negative Staphylococcus (CoNS) species is a leading cause of nosocomial infection in patients with indwelling medical devices and immunocompromised patients. This study was conducted to determine the antibiotic resistance pattern CoNS isolated from major teaching hospital Malaysia. A total 43 isolates were collected August October 2018 at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Kuala Lumpur, Speciation by 16S rRNA sequencing. Antibiotic susceptibility test performed using standard procedure, detection staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec) elements genes via multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Comparison sequences showed that 67.44% identified as S. epidermidis, followed haemolyticus (11.63%), hominis (9.3%), capitis (4.65%), other sp. (6.98%). All susceptible linezolid tedizolid, while most them resistant towards penicillin (86.05%), cefoxitin (69.77%), erythromycin (72.02%), 88.37% least 3 antibiotics. The majority harboured nontypeable SCCmec elements. AacA-D (95.5%) ermC (78.6%) commonly detected no tetK, tetM ermA observed. high prevalence multidrug-resistant HCTM healthcare settings. Understanding mechanism warranted for intervention strategy.

Prevalence, Aetiology and Antibiotic Resistance Profiles of Coagulase Negative Staphylococci Isolated in a Teaching Hospital

In this paper we carried out a study about prevalence of the clinically significant coagulase negative staphylococcal (CNS) isolates found in an university hospital. Two hundred four CNS isolates from 191 patients obtained between the period of 1998 to 2002, were studied. About 27% (52/191) of the infection cases studied were confirmed as CNS-associated diseases. Blood stream infection (BSI) wa...
